Beginning Teacher Support

The purpose of the Beginning Teacher Support Program is to offer support for the development and professional growth of new teachers during the first three years of employment.  A support team at the school and the central office levels will work collaboratively to provide guidance and assistance to new teachers. District-wide support to beginning teachers in Weldon City Schools will be provided through:

  1. Coaching and professional development from East Carolina University
  2. School-based Mentors assigned to each new teacher
  3. After-School "Teacher Talk" Sessions
  4. Instructional Support from the District Curriculum & Instruction Team
  5. Licensure Assistance from the Human Resources Department
